Mount Grant from Walker Lake. After many years of driving past here on my way to other destinations, I finally got around to requesting permission from the army depot located in the town in Hawthorne. It turned out to be an easy process. I contacted Ann Belzer at 775-945-7101. She sent me a security form and a few days later I received permission to access the area. Thanks to Teresa Gergen for providing the instructions.
Driving up the road to Mount Grant. The road is located a few miles north of Hawthorne out of the town of Walker Lake.
Mount Grant.
The road was in decent shape all the way to the summit.
Mount Grant after turning onto the access road. The road makes several long switchbacks on the way to the summit. By mid-June there were only a few small snow patches left.
